7- Herding Breeds
These
dogs have been bred to assist man in herding sheep and cattle
and perform many specialized tasks according to the needs of the
farmer. They are agile in movement, trustworthy and dependable.
Today
there is a wide variety of uses for the dogs in this group. They
have been employed to guide the blind, serve as police dogs, and
many other tasks. Most display unusual intelligence and rugged
endurance.
