Because
you have asked me for so many breeds I didn't have, I created
the "Best of Breed" Head Study series, which I'm adding
more breeds to regularly.

Group
1 - Sporting Breeds (9 of 19)
The
Sporting Group consists of gun dogs used in the Field with the
hunter. They are separated mainly into three divisions depending
upon the purpose for which they have been developed. These are:
1.
Pointers & Setters which locate upland game afield for the
hunter. These breeds will indicate the position of the game by
assuming a peculiarly rigid stance or pointing the nose toward
the scent of the game.
2.
The Retrievers, whose duty in the field is to bring killed or
wounded game back to the hunter.
3.
The Spaniels, long or dense-coated breeds developed to work rough
cover and close to the gun when locating, flushing and retrieving
game.
