The Black River Cheese Factory, a well known landmark building
as well as a thriving business, stood beside the Black River in
Prince Edward County, Ontario for 100 years. Most other cheese
factories were shut down by the big factories. The little Black
River Cheese Factory kept going until tragically in 2001 during
their 100th anniversary year, the building burned to the ground.
It has since been replaced with a new building and is running
once again.
